Subscription FAQs
What is a bouquet subscription?
Subscribers receive a specified number of bouquets over a period of time. It’s a classic example of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): the idea that community members support their local farmers by purchasing a seasonal subscription. Your payment up front, in the off-season when income is generally low and costs are high, helps to support our upcoming growing season. In return, you get access to our best harvests - we prioritize our subscribers!
What’s the point of a subscription?
For us, subscriptions are more than just selling flowers. Subscribers are integral to our farm, providing valuable income in the off-season, and we organize our crop plan around our subscriptions. Selling bouquets before we even cut the flowers means we have less waste and allows us to run the farm more efficiently.
How do I know when to pick up my flowers?
Pickups are expected to be Wednesdays, 1-8pm. The start date will be announced closer to the season, when I have an idea of when the flowers will start blooming. Subscribers receive clear instructions about the start date and subsequent pickups primarily via email - please be sure to provide your correct email address at checkout.
Where do I pick up my flowers?
Bouquets are picked up at Gold-N-Grain Archery (75 McCullough Rd, Sharpsville, PA).
Flowers at an archery shop?
Absolutely, you’d be surprised how many bowhunters buy flowers! The owner of Gold-N-Grain (DeAnn) is my mother, and when she’s not running the archery business, she’s working on the flower farm with me.
What if I can’t make it to a pickup?
You are welcome to send a friend or family member to pick up on your behalf. We will hold your bouquet for 24 hours, but any bouquets left after 24 hours will be donated to a local retirement community. Due to the small size of our farm, we cannot refund or credit any missed or forgotten bouquets.
Can I get delivery instead?
No. At this time, we only offer pick up.
Why isn’t there a start date listed?
Simply put, the subscriptions start when flowers begin blooming. Right now I can give you a general idea, but I can't specify an exact date, because, like any farmer, I am governed by Mother Nature - she decides when the flowers bloom, depending on the weather in our area. I’ll have a better idea once we get closer to the season, and I will clearly communicate all details about the start date to subscribers.
Can I give a subscription as a gift?
Absolutely! We’ll need you to share your recipient’s full name, email address, and cell phone number. We can give you a certificate to present to your recipient.
How long will my flowers last?
Flowers are a perishable product with variable vase life. Dahlias are magical in part because they’re here for such a short time, usually just 3-5 days in a vase. Ranunculus and lisianthus on the other hand typically have a 10-14 day vase life. How you care for them affects their lifespan, too. See next question for care tips.
How do I take care of my flowers?
Don’t leave them in your hot car or out of water for an extended period. On pickup days, we recommend taking your flowers straight home, or if you must run an errand afterward, bring a cup of water for them and don’t leave them in a hot car. For longest vase life: use a clean vase with clean water (if you wouldn’t drink it, your flowers won’t either!), change the water daily and snip the ends of each stem to help them re-hydrate. Keep in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and hot or cool drafts.
